Placenta encapsulation is the process of encapsulating a placenta through dehydrating, grinding dehydrated placenta into a powder, and filling capsules. Ingesting the placenta in any form is called placentophagy. In many cultures, the placenta is regarded as a very magical and spiritual organ. Because of the important role it plays during pregnancy (it provides the baby with everything it needs to survive), it is treated with respect and care after it is birthed. There are many different placenta rituals and beliefs, some of which can be very meaningful to families. Placenta encapsulation (consumption of a dried placenta in pill form) is becoming more and more popular, as more women report positive effects from the experience.

Originally started by Sandra Lobaina LM,CPM, IBCLC owner of My Mom Glow Lactation & postpartum support, has now become a family owned and run business. Sandra has been a Midwife for 16 years and also co-owns a birthing center in Broward County called Natural Birthworks. With her busy and very unpredictable schedule, she decided to train her son Dylan , who has always had an interest and desire in the work she does. He became passionate in learning everything there is to know about the amazing placenta. For years he would watch his mom prepare and encapsulate placentas. He decided to become certified in placenta encapsulation where he also completed the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Certification. While studying to one day become an Engineer, Dylan helps his mom run MMG Placenta Services and using the income he receives to save up for college. Sandra & Dylan work together as a team to support and care for all birthing families.
